50hz or 100hz any difference?
I am thinking of buying a new tv and was wondering if their is any difference in 50hz and 100hz screens. I will be looking for a 32/36 widescreen if poss without pro logic or other surround sounds as i already own a amp and speakers(besides sky wont work in pro logic as i already own a pro logic set and it only uses the rear speakers when sky is off) can anyone recomend a tv?
RE: 50hz or 100hz any difference?
This was something I looked into recently. Went to John Lewis in Oxford street and compared two panasonic 28" widescreens - a 50hz and 100hz. In my opinion the 50hz looked more natural (maybe cos I"m used to it). The 100hz had a more solid appearence but to me people looked like they had a layer of plasticine around their skin. It looked strange and I didn`t like it. My girlfriend also agreed that the 50hz pic looked better. A friend of mine bought a 100hz panasonic cos he really notices flicker - if you do to then that might be something to keep in mind. Also 100hz screens can apparently break up with fast moving images like sports events. Guy at John Lewis confirmed this and in his opinion he felt 100hz screens were overrated. I bought a 50hz panasonic WS in the end and I think the picture is fantastic. There was a round up of tvs in the recent what hifi mag and panasonic came out very well. Maybe give Panasonic a call for a brochure or check the web. If you go to techtronics.com they have a lot of info. But I`ve heard conflicting things about them so be careful. Also might be an idea to do what I did and go to a store and look at both screens. BTW I bought from John Lewis cos of their excellent back up service. I`m sure you could find the TVs a lot cheaper around the web but you get a five year warranty with their JL tvs and they come out to your house if need be. In the past they`ve been amazing with their backup service. And no I don`t work there. ;) Oh and I wouldn`t touch anything by Sony with a barge pole. Hope this helps.

50hz
Yep, I agree 50 Hz is sharper - and cheaper.
Unless you notice the flicker (I don`t) then save your money.
I am very pleased with my Toshiba WS.
