Heat and IR (I'm back)

Evening reviewer family

I've not posted for a while, but I still pop back to read as I continue to sort my life out.
(and celebrate a third year in a row of no St. TOTTERIDGE DAY!)

In the South-East this week you may know it was 33 degrees for three days. I was melting.
Anyway. On Tuesday night I couldn't use any of my remote controls (except main TV) the sound bar, dvd player and you view box all wouldn't respond. Also the main TV one acts as an all in one and that wouldn't operate the other electricals?

Checked for pushed in buttons to make sure there was no constant IR signal blocking them all.

Any ideas as to why this has happened.

I changed batteries, reset ones that could be reset and unplugged everything and then back.

Still weren't working last night, but thd you view box is now working...

It's driving me mad!!

how difficult would it be to try the units in another room?

how about unplug them all from the wall power, and try one by one?

it's electronics maybe unplugging them from wall overnight and plugging back in again in morning may help?

that may be what you did but wasn't 100% sure.

try changing the batteries(sorry couldn't resist), or better than than roll them in your fingers a bit, or pry out the little spring with a screwdriver.

actually, have you been using cheap poundland batteries - some ppl swear by them, but I've had the batteries leak in a few things, sometimes they don't completely leak, but enough to get some debris on the contacts so you may need to gently file/sand them down. (borrow a nail file, or scrape with a scree driver)

Honestly I'm not clutching at straws, but you never know

I'm not sure the heat would generate IR light, or affect the electronics in that way (it does change tolerances but I'm surprised if it does them to this degree).

Perhaps there is another source of IR light in the room somehow? Some video cameras (not mobile phones) can see IR remote lights blinking. Maybe one of your remotes is stuck on somehow and flooding.

Well everything except the sound bar is working now with remote. Buttons on the side are fine. The TV remote used to be able to control the sound bar remote too. I have changed the battery in this. :)

Just a 'Tales from the unexpected' moment when all remotes stopped working!
