UNUSUAL PROBLEM, NO AUDIO FROM VHS RECORDERS
In our house we have 2 VHS recorders, one in my room, one upstairs, they`re both different (One is actually a vid/dvd recorder) the thing is when i go to the video channel on both TVs no sound is coming through, the pictures fine and the sound works fine on the other channels, on the downstairs video it plays VHS tapes with sound just fine but if I now tape something it plays it with no sound just as it is on the channel,
Ive gone crazy trying to work it out.
RE: UNUSUAL PROBLEM, NO AUDIO FROM VHS RECORDERS
This may sound odd, but is that recording from all channels? If i try to use the VCR to record whatever the cable box is set to through the rf lead, i.e. tuned to that channel, i get no sound. Actually it`s weird than that, it doesn`t record sound, so you get the sound from the previous programme you recorded but the picture from the recent one! It records 1-4 fine.
it may be worth just retuning, or checking to see if you can tune into 2 occurrences of the same channe, 1 may be with sound, 1 without?
Actually, have you removed all the cables, and put them in again? I had a scart lead come loose out of back of cable box for scart lead going into DVD recorder. other scart lead went straight into tv, so if we watched cable, everything was fine, if we watched a recorded programme, sound only came through 1 speaker

Check your SCARTs - the leads are so stiff and awkward they often twist the plug out of proper contact and the audio`s always the first connection to go.

Thanks for the replies
would the sound not come through at all though if it were the scart because if i play a vhs tape om my downstairs one it has sound its just that it now displays the channel without sound and thats how it records it as well

It`s always worth trying the simple, obvious answer first. I know I had a lot of trouble with a loose SCART a few years back and wound up having to strap it to the machine with glass tape to keep the connection.
