Any decent 1080p panels around for under a grand?

Chris Gould (Elite) posted this on Monday, 30th July 2007, 12:05

As per header really. Just curious as to what`s available and what they can do. 1080p is a must if I`m ever to go to HD, and 24fps support might be an idea as well.

The Toshiba 3030 range gets some cracking reviews.
They`re a bit more basic than the LT68 range, which I have an example of though.
They don`t offer the 100hz processing and they don`t offer the onkyo speakers.
I`d rather have a 720P LT68 than a 1080P 3030,but horses for courses.
I`m more interested in SKY (720P) than HD-DVD.

According to the Toshiba website Here it shows the 42X3030D as being 24fps compatible. There is also a 37" version available (37X3030D) which some websites have for under £800 (Dixons have it for £753, if you shop around you can probably get it at somewhere decent for less). Depends on what size you want.

Samsing LE40M87. What Hi Fi winner. Deeeep blacks. Less than a grand from a good few places now. :o Was about £960 from Costco - with 3 year warranty. And newer models support 24hz too.....

Prices not competitive? :p 24fps support was just an idea, but would be nice. I`d also like one that allows adjustment of overscan or does 1:1 pixel mapping for 1080 lines, cause I was planning on pairing it with a 1080p capable Oppo DVD player until this whole BD/HD fiasco resolves itself. I saw that 42" Regza Tosh in Tesco tonight for just over a grand, so it must be cheaper elsewhere.

*Edit* looks to be about £850 from the cheapest store I could find. To think I paid over £700 for my prog scan Tosh CRT barely two and a half years ago.
