Can anyone tell me if Daewoo DVD players are any good . I own a Grundig but can`t play RCE disks. So I`m looking for a new one and this Daewoo can set its Region manually . So this might be the answer providing its a descent player

It has the problems that the scan had (or has) RGB switching, a little blocky now and then but no subtitle prob. I have one and have it connected via S-video and its OK, I wouldn`t say the picture its great but it plays VCD, MP3, all regions, mac disabled and every CD-R I`ve tried and thats quite a few. If you can put up with the slightly (and I mean slightly) ropey picture, its fantastic value for money. I still think even with all the probs scan have had, it sounds like they are sorting them out and I would buy one of those if they were silver. Whoops, but the new batch doesn`t let you disable macrovision, so that would put me off too.
Nelly, can you tell us if the new Mpeg card you are fitting to the scan would be ok for the Daewoo? and if so is it easy to fit? would you sell them? how much? and does the chip you have supplied for your machines sort out the RGB prob on the Daewoo?. I would ask you personaly but I seem to be having a lot of problems contacting you.

By the way Greame, Daewoo are not sorting any of the problems out as they are manufacturing their own DVD next month. They told me to take it back to the shop or get Scan to fix it,,,,very nice, I thought.

As I understand things the Daewoo and the Scan are the same machine (apart from case colour). Scan are getting their upgraded machines late this month and Daewoo will get theirs in November. So if you wait a bit you can go to Argos and get the updated Daewoo with new MPEG ard etc. etc. and if you don`t like it, take it back within 16 days. So much easier than messing about with mail order.

I have had a Daewoo 2002k for about 3 months and as others point out, it`s great as long as you havent got a 46in Back Projection, cos its pixelation is very bad, not so bad on my 20in. But it`s best for MP3 and thats what i use it for mainly

Hi Ironduke, I wish it was as simple as get another machine but there aren`t any in that price range that do everything I want and are silver. The mp3 feature is very good and one of the main reasons I bought along with the vcd, cdr playback ;-)
Microstar, I was told by Daewoo that they are not going to get the problems of this player sorted because they`re going to start making their own, which will be out in November. Different player altogether. They told me to get a refund or get scan to fix it. Great customer relations eh!!!

Cheap silver DVD players that play vcd, cdr, mp3 oh and have a good go at playing DVD ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
