I`m confused about NTSC (Toshiba 210 and Philips 28PW6515)

I am not sure wheather the Philips accepts an NTSC signal, but am also not sure whether I even need it too.

My Toshiba will hopefully arrive in a few days (from Richer Sounds) and as this is the multi region version will it output my region 1 ntsc discs in pal format?

Also does anyone know if the Philips 28PW6515 is a good tv to buy. It is one of the cheapest real flat widescreens I have found (£460).

Thanks

I wouldn`t worry, when i bought my old dvd player from Richer Sounds they said that all of their players output Pal 60hz.

Even it didn`t, chances are your tv will be able to handle the ntsc signal anyway!

In any case, I`m pretty sure the Tosh machines output RGB, so a fully wired SCART lead should be all you need for a perfect picture. Just set the Tosh to RGB mode, and you`re laughing - you don`t need to worry about NTSC at all.

The 28PW6515 is available at empiredirect (for £460, £480 inc delivery) and at unbeatable (for £452, £480 inc delivery).

However these versions are without the cabinet. The cabinet version (28PW6515C) costs £546 (not incl delivery) at unbeatable and £586 at dabs.com (includes delivery)

How much did you pay for yours?
Is it best to connect the Toshiba by RGB scart or S-Video?

RGB should in theory look much better, but try both.

There is no discernible difference in RGB or S-VHS output on my Tosh 210. I`ve tried both, but RGB meant looping it through my SKY digibox which was causing problems.Either that or a double adaptor which also caused problems. Direct connection to AV1 ( RGB ) of SKY and AV2 ( S-VHS ) of dvd solved the problem completely, and I`m boogered if I notice a difference in picture quality.
If you`ve got a Tosh DVD player why not try and get a Tosh TV so you can use the much praised component connections that only Tosh TV`s offer ? Provided you can get one with that facility for the same money as the Philips ?
