I had the same choice and opted for a back proj Tosh 40".
Colour is good and it just looks sexy sitting in the corner! Supports PAL, NTSC and PAL60 so it plays everything perfectly.
The only thing you have to be aware of is that proj tellys is they can suffer from "screen burn" - a faint image can be permanently burned onto the screen if it shows the same image in the same place for several hours.
You shouldn`t have a problem with normal viewing, but be aware of buying an ex-demo from a shop. It has more than likely been showing MTV 24 hours a day for 6 months and the MTV logo will be burnt into the screen!

Or get a projector ... that`s what I got for 2 grand. Better quality (IMO)than a back-proj telly and it doesn`t take up half your house (all the time) -S-video cable output from the DVD really helps the picture quality too.
40`` pah! - I`ve got a six footer mate! It can go bigger - I`ve just run out of space now.
Also plugged a PS2 into it the other day - GT3 on a six foot screen is something to behold.
If you do decide on a back-proj - Costco is v.cheap for monster tellies.

Two Grand?....Fecker....boy, have you got DEEP pockets!
I managed to pick up a cheap LitePro projector, fairly good output, and takes up so little room (when not in use, obviously!), definately reccommend one,
but if I was being honest, you would probably get a better picture from the CRT..... No use at all, but just my thoughts!

I got the Sony VPL CS-10 was £1890 +VAT - plus it has a true widescreen LCD panel......... Infocus was on the list but I couldn`t get a demo of it so I bought the Sony.
I can claim it as computer hardware anyway....... mwahahaha .. woof
