Freeview boxes - Digital Radio ?

bowfer (Elite) posted this on Monday, 9th May 2005, 10:47

Do freeview boxes offer digital radio, like SKY ?
We have a TV in the office that sits and does feck all.
If we could get digital radio through it,without subscribing to to SKY,it would be great.

No problem. You can receive quite a lot of radio channels. So you should be OK.
The Sagem set top box is cheap and appears to be quite good one.

I don`t know what radio stations you can get on Sky but these are the freeview ones available on all boxes.

Radio 1
Radio 1Xtra
BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 3
BBC Radio 4
Five Live Sports Extra
Five Live
BBC 6 Music
BBC 7
BBC Asian Network
BBC World Service
The Hits
Smash Hits Radio
Kiss
heat
magic
Q
oneword
Jazz FM
Mojo
Kerrang!
Talk SPORT
3c Digital Radio
Premier Christian Radio

One of the Goodmans boxes ( GDB5 ? ) has an integrated DAB radio that will give you a load more.

Bowfer

My good lady treated me to a Goodmans GDB5 last year and as mentioned earlier it not only allows you to receive the Freeview Channels and radio stations it has an in-built DAB radio. Best of both worlds IMHO :) so the GDB5 may be a good bet.

Cheers folks
If we went for the one with the DAB tuner, would we need anything other than the RF aerial we have at the moment ?

you are all so lucky, here in Conwy town I can`t freeview or DAB and don`t know when they will upgrade the local Gyffin transmitter. I`m just out of range, so the aerial man says of getting it from winterhill

Bowfer :)

In Falkirk, we manage to get almost every channel on a wee set top aerial.
The only one we have difficulty with is Sky Sports News and we just have to move the aerial about to get the picture.
So I would reckon that if the box, GDB5, was connected to an external aerial the system should work flawlessly and get all TV/Radio/DAB channels available in your area.

Cheers Choagy
Here,we`re getting rid of some pretty decent players (Adams,Craig,Morrison) for some unknown reason, other than Calderwood being a complete balloon and liking his wee cliques.
Get on the phone to your club.
They could do a job for you boys.
Damned shame we`re getting rid of them, especially when their replacements are of the calibre of Byrne..... :/ :/

See,ye can tell yer mates nae all AFC supporters are Calderwood fans, despite the improvement in position. :D
Dire fitba min. >:(

TBH bowfer, some of the players being released would fit in to almost any other team outside the ugly sisters.
Stephen Craig, ex Bairn ??, would be welcomed back at Falkirk any day.

Jimmy Calderwood always reminds me of that phat phucker "Sloth" in The Goonies. Only Sloth had more natural charm and boyish good looks compared to Jimmy "Cabbage Patch" Calderwood :)
