Sky Digital - Dish, moving house, help please........thanks.

Moving house next week, have arranged for Sky to come round and reinstate digibox and fit new dish £40. The house has a large white dish on chimney, which I assume is Sky analogue.

Could we leave the analogue dish up, would this allow access to FREE channels? Is there any advantage in leaving this up or is it best to get rid and just replace with a Sky digital dish? I assume that the two dishes are not compatitable :/

Could I keep the old Dish and re align it to another FREE to view Satellite??? I.e to use for the kids programmes?

Thanks in advance.

I will be moving shortly (hopefully...today is our closing date... :/ ).
What is the score with SKY and moving ?
The dish and box are mine yeah ?
They will move them for me,for a fee ?
My new house has SKY downstairs and upstairs, but not in the bedroom I require.
I would like to;

A/ Get my dish and box moved from house to house.
B/ Get SKY+ downstairs and use my existing box upstairs.
C/ Get SKY to re-cable it to the correct bedroom.

Will they do all this ?

The old white dishes will almost certainly have the older type of LNB so it won`t get all digibox channels, also it will be facing a different satellite. I used to be a satellite installer but haven`t done it for a few years but even then, the white dishes were falling apart (easier to see when you get close to them). If the dish is on the chimney I would recommend to have it taken down, a strong wind could bring it down with the chimney. It would be better to fit a newer dish aimed at another satellite or (depending on what dish you have) put another LNB on it, but the digiboxes are very limited with other satellite`s reception.

Basically best bet seems to have a new smaller black Sky digital dish installed and the Sky man can set it up at the right satellite. Can I keep the old dish? Will this be of any use if I can re-align it and get another digibox to pick up free to air channels or shall I just put the old white dish in the skip!

The white dish should go. The old dish installed in another position & you will get all the free to view Satellite channels with another digibox or some free to view channels from another satellite depending where it`s aligned.

i`m sure i`ve said this before, but...

WHY "have arranged for Sky to come round and reinstate digibox and fit new dish £40."

your going to pay them £40 to put up a new dish, and let you use your old box?

why not shut your old account, then when you move into the new place re-join for around £10 get a NEW dish NEW box 12 month garantee, and then keep your old for spare?
