Page 1 of 5.1 surround system advice

I want to set up a 5.1 system to connect with my Samsung 511 DVD player.

I`ve looked into the Sherwood 6106 (replacement for 6095) and the Kenwood V7030D but don`t know which to go for. Anybody got some advice on this?

I don`t have much room so I want small/slimline speakers particularly for the rears. I can get a free sub from a friend but would prefer it to be part of the package. Any recommendations for speaker packages in the region of £150 or am I dreaming?

I purchased the sony htk-215

Has DTS and dolby digital decoders plus prologic etc. All the speakers are tiny 2.5" x 3.5" and the subwoofer is about a foot square. The amp is small and has a real quality look to it.

It will cost around 299 but unbeatable have it (or had it) for 260. Not sure what options you have for about 150 although a used digi theatre set up may be an option (some one was selling on these forums a while back) although it was the non dts version.

The performance is excellent in my room 19` x 13`.

Hope this helps - 5.1 really improves DVD enjoyment.

The Mission cinema 6 package (Winner of the Home Cinema Choice "Best speaker system under £1000 award". ) is a bit out of your price range at £299. Budget systems by Eltax (who?) can be found for £199 but I`ve no idea if they`re any good.

Hmmm, seems Eltax are a popular Danish company and Richersounds are selling their £249-99 MovieMaxx package (2 large floor standers, centre and small rears) for £119-99 in their online sale...

Does it play dts discs through the kit provided,because i cant decied if i want the sony htk215 or the videologic dts center.

if you`re buying hi-fi from a shop where they won`t let you test out different equipment to see what your ears prefer then you`re in the WRONG SHOP

go find a good hi-fi shop.
