One For All Mosiac Remote Control

peteh (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 21st May 2003, 11:32

I`ve bought a touchpad all in one remote control from Richer Sounds 3days ago for £59, which seemed like an absolute bargain to me. But, I can`t get to grips with the damn thing, I have five remotes LG - TV, Sky Remote, Sony - Surround Sound System, Aiwa - Video and Hitachi DVD and I can only get the Video and Sky to programme!

Also you only seem to get a certain amount of keys on the screen at once which means flicking page after page over, which is a lot of fannying around to me and defeats the object of having a simple all in one remote.

Does anybody else have one of these or something similar? Any advice? I thinking of getting my money back.

I`ts amazing how many of these all in one remotes are actually pretty useless.
After trying 4 ranging in price from £ 50.00 to £ 140.00, none of which would do what I wanted, had battery life failures or were like yours, more awkward than the originals, I gave up and now have the 8 remotes living neatly in a fancy plant pot holder ( matrimonial harmony maintained ) ;-)

Works for me and the money saved bought even more DVD`s instead. ;-))

Now that makes a lot more sense, good thinking. I`m off to Richer Sounds tomorrow to get my money back, then Play247/CDWOW to buy some more discs.

Are Richer Sounds ok with giving a full refund?

I use the One for all kameleon £70.

Very easy to program. You select the source, lets say DVD. punch in the 4 digit code from the book (you only have to do this once) and use.

If the product you have is not listed in the book phone them up and they will download it over the phone.

It has a motion sensor. Pick it up and it lights up. No more searching for the backlight button.

Looks cool.

Can do 8 devices.

Has macros.

Eats batterys:-(

All the best,

The 42%er.

Does that Kameleon remote control Sky Digiboxes? I`ve heard some of the all in one type controls have problems with them.

Cheers,
Nick

Richer Sounds were fine with the refund. I called them last night and they said that they dont do refunds sorry!

Went to the store today and the Deputy Store Manager was fine. Fair play.

I`ve got the One for All 6. Costs about £20, but controls 6 devices (I`m using it for 5). Lots of devices already there and you can download others from the net (transferred by playing a WAV file and holding remote near speaker). It does my NTL box (Pace 4001). Battery life is currently infinite (running for a couple of years so far).

If you`re adventurous you can build a cable to link it to a PC for advanced programming.

I think it`s a remarkable device for the money. It doesn`t have a nice LCD display, but that would make it much more expensive.
