Noisy BUSH ?

making (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 2nd May 2003, 11:58

Hi,

I`ve checked the forums and noticed that a lot of you experience a certain amount of noise with your DVD players - my own BUSH2023 makes an awful vibrating noise with some discs which disappears after about 15 mins of play, this always happens with the same discs, most of my discs otherwise play noise free.

Is this a normal occurence? Any other Bush owners getting this? One culprit is the latest `Harry Potter` R2.

Thanks,

Mick

My Alba 113 wobbles so loudly I can`t hear the soundtrack sometimes. Not on every disc, and not necessarily to the same degree, but it`s damn annoying.

Try KY-Gel
OOOPS sorry wrong type of bush

I am no techie or expert on drives/dvd etc but I will take a guess so here goes.
Maybe the noise disappears after fifteen minutes due to the way the the disc is read. I can only assume the disc rotates at a faster rate when reading the outer tracks of a disc than it does when reading nearer to the centre of the disc. That might mean that any flaw in the drive or disc assembly might become more pronounced at higher speeds, like unbalanced tyres on a car at 55 MPH. If that was the case then you may be able to get a repair / exchange disc done if it is under warranty,if not you will probably have to put up with it for the meantime.
As I said it is just a guess and I dare say the more enlightened individuals will be able to help you more than me.

My Pacific 1002 makes a real racket, so much so I`m thinking of taking it back. 24 disks 2 & 3 are particularly bad in certain sections. If anyone has an idea what it might be or if it can be fixed please post.
