Going by the spiel on www.dvdrhelp.com the Toshiba SD220E can play DVD-RW. I know that our 220E can play DVD-R but not sure about DVD-RW. It will probably be dependant on the brand of media used.

Have you tried HP media, they seem to get a good rating.
Other than that we also have a Haus H-615L-S that has played every type of disc we have tried on it. DVD+R/DVD-R so I will see if I can get a DVD-RW and try it on both the SD220E and the H-615L-sit in the next few days and let you know.

Had a look on www.argos.co.uk and the Akai DVR3100SS looks like a reasonable home theatre set up. £230 and according to www.dvdrhelp.com it plays DVD-R and DVD-RW and some DVD+RW depending on media. Also the site says it handles VCD`s buy using a remote hack.
Also they have a Sony DCTS750 for £300. Not sure of the spec as the model number might be unique to Argos but going by www.dvdrhelp.com a helluva lot of the Sony models can play DVD-R and DVD-RW

Why not take a few dvd-rw`s along to Richer sounds and arrange to try a few different players in their listening rooms. They are pretty accomodating and u usually have to arrange it with them first, but at least you know you`ll difinately get the player that you want. By the way a lot of players refuse to play anything burnt with Nero.
Hope this helps.
