could anyone tell me what the best home cinema system i could get for around £250 please (i alreaddy have a dvd player).

check out empiredirect.co.uk - they have the Sony "Babe" for £209. Sounds good to me.

sony htk215 still available for the same price, but some etailers are running out of stock - got mine recently from www.hotkit.co.uk. Search for it on Bargain threads

If you can stretch your budget a bit Id try Richersounds for the Sony DAV-S500. The one in cardiff price matched an ad in the latest what hi-fi for £300 multi region and have to say thats o far Im well impressed for a little system.Only tihng missing is PL2 but u cant complain for that price.

Is the Philips MX980 any good? you can get it for around £230.

Do Philips have any sort of reputation in this field?

I bought one last week as my first home cinema set up and I am very impressed with the quality of the sound.
