Can someone help?

Is this player region 2 or multiregion?

According to www.hed.co.uk it is multiregion?

The 711 is not on the philips site?

Can anyone who has the machine advise me?

I was speaking to goon at Richer Sounds and they are Multi-Region, but not sure what the hack is. I know its though the Remote.

I maybe going to see one, but they are like gold dust.

£179.95. Thats what richer Sounds want.

Sorry to keep going on about RS, but i am new to this.

Well I got a price match for my richers sounds brochure at Allders making it 159.99, I have 2 on order, Only place that had them in stock in my area was martin dawes as they are still charging 229.99(allders retail price is 189.99 at the moment) but when the guy from martin dawes rang for a price check the lowest they would go in 200 not even matchings allders price only a few shops up.........good thing i have some patience...

Anyhow, does anyone know how good this player is at playing cdr based vcd`s?

The 711 is one of the "25 change" limited players. We sold it.

Not overly impressed with it, but it does the job if it`s cheap enough and ya dont need MP3.

Check the hack pages, it might do the 700 series "RC6" hack.

However, if you`re anywhere NEAR the £200 mark, get yourself an Aiwa 370!
It`s FAR suprerior!

(and I coulda had a 711 for £135 if I wanted it, and I bought the Aiwa!)

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!

According to posts on this newsgroup, the 711 is fully multiregionable via the remote hack and now does no-longer lock out after 25 changes.........I am pretty much banking on this being true.

Why the aiwa?

Why the aiwa?"

Because the Aiwa plays MP3 CD`s and is RC hackable with the remote that comes with the machine.

You have to buy a One4all RC to hack the Philips.
