Page 1 of Scan DVD Player!!!!!! Help

Well i was chuffed to see the reviews of the scan dvd until i came to this forum i was gonna get it tommorrow but now i am not that sure. :-(
Someone please instill some confidence in me that if i buy it that it won`t be a big mistake. Maybe that guy from scan has a few comforting words!

Anyway if i was to buy one i have a JVC dolby surround sound TV with Nicam it auto PAL/NSTC tuning i was wondering would the scan spill out the sound as pro logic through my rear speakers or am i just dumb.

P.S What does anyone think about the ALBA DVD 103?

I bought a scan at the beginning of November,It first seemed to be good picture quality but I started to notice banding and pixelation in the shadow area`s,
So I emailed Scan and they told me to ring customer support to organise a pick and drop when the new december batch arrives.
When I finally got through that`s what I did.
My new unit arrived yesterday and the pictire quality is superb, so much crisper and sharper than the last one, It now also plays cd`s that the last one would`nt recognise at all.
It seems the latest ones are the dog`s bollocks.

My god - it plays cds? about bloody time. I was beginning to think this was a function that completely passed it by. So you reckon I should go for a third one then? have you had any problems at all with cds?

Yes that was an older version.
The latest one which I have is great, All the other reviews also gave it top marks.
And yes it plays cd`s, Including some the last player would`nt recognise.
It seems they have sorted the problems out maybe it was software related or hardware or even both.

I took delivery of my SCAN SC2000 just over 2 weeks ago so far it has played everything I have thrown at it and done a pretty good job of it to boot.

Apparantly the new batch are even better!.

Like you I have a pro logic system and yes I do get full Pro Logic sound on film soundtracks containing the information including the rear effects channel.

From reports I have heard the ALBA 103 is an OK bottom of the range player but not in the same class as the SCAN.

I have a sc-2000, I bought it in October. Do you know if this is the crappy one or one of the good ones. How do I check? I have noticed some artifacts but only on some dvd`s.I put this down to bad quality dvd`s.

What firmware version do you have installed ?
When was the purchase date of your player ?

After the 26th, the players were firmware upgradable.

The new scans do not sound bad at all but as for the Alba 103 dont have one even if Argos pay you £149 to take it of their hands.
