Hack Help Forum
Hi! Seek hack to the above model. On my last to dvd player /recorders I changed recorder to multi regional with remote. I now read that that is no longer possible with the newer Panasonics?????
What is chipping?? Is it possible? if so , is it a job that a (very) low tech pensioner cou;ld do??!!!!
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
Alancito
i think the easiest way is to get (hire ) one of the chipped remotes, they cost about £20 or see if your local friendly panasonic dealer will do it for you ( mines wouldnt ) there is a hack available but you cant use the original remote to do it with, and it seems quite complicated, i have the same model and i bought it already made region free. hth.
Yes, you need a One-4-All "Universal" remote, and this is what you do:
- Leave the DVD/HDD-Recorder switched OFF
1. Select DVD on the "One for all" remote
2. Hold MAGIC button until red ON/OFF button blinks twice
3. Enter device code 0490 (ON/OFF button blinks twice)
These are the codes to be programmed on the buttons 1-0 on your "one for
all"
1. 00191
2. 00120
3. 00065
4. 00180
5. 00143
6. 00155
7. 00122
8. 00117
9. 00129
0. 00123
start the programming:
1. Hold MAGIC button until the ON/OFF button blinks twice
2. Press 994 ON/OFF blinks twice
3. Press MAGIC button
4. Enter 5 digit code from above (00191)
5. Press button 1 (2,3,4-0 to follow) on remote ON/OFF button blinks twice
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the remaining codes
Switch on DVD/HDD Recorder, no disc inside.
Press the "One for ALL" remote buttons in the following sequence
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0
The display of your Panasonic shows now "HELLO"
You will not see a info telling you it`s region free, but you can now insert a
different region DVD and it will play.
Maybe you know someone with a remote you could borrow? Also maybe someone will help as this looks a little complicated. Good luck.
:B THANKS to you both for the helpful & prompt reply. At 75 yrs I still thinks chips are for eating!!!
Can you tell me where I can hire/buy a "universal" remote or tool??:
Any electrical store that sells TVs and DVD players etc will also sell the One-for-All remotes.
You want one like this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9249628/Trail/searchtext%3EALL+FOR+ONE+REMOTE.htm
Good luck - it looks like a fiddly job to do what you want, but at least it is do-able.

I remember hacking my Panny DVD/HDD recorder with my PSP. :)
The original ones had an IR port and I just needed a file and gave it a blast at the player.
Sorry, that doesn`t help you - just takes me back.... :)
Ste
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
Looking for region hack for SC-BTT370P-K. can anyone help? does the ALL-IN-ONE remote also work here? any particular remote recommended? thanks a lot!!
THIS WORKS - eventually!
I bought a "One-4-ALL" UNIVERSAL remote on E-bay for a fiver (needs two AA batteries) and followed these instructions faithfully.
First time, didn`t work - after I`d completed the last sequence and pressed all the buttons, 1 through 0, I didn`t get the "HELLO" and when I tried a region 1 DVD, I got the usual "WRONG REGION DISC" message. Rude words under breath. Count to ten.
I assumed I`d made a mistake somewhere and tried the whole procedure again. Same result, but something made me try just the last sequence - pressing all the buttons 1 through 0 - again. "HELLO" appeared!! Bingo!! Tried the region 1 dvd and it worked perfectly - tried a region 2 again, just to make sure, then another region 1 - everything is OK. Now I have, at last, a top class region-free DVD/HDD recorder/player and I can play all those region1 DVDs my kids have been sending me from the USA.
Just to make it perfectly clear, the WHOLE programming sequence, items 1 through 5 in smurfette`s instructions, must be carried out for each and every button numbered 1 through 0. I know smurfette says so, but if you are slightly doolally (like me) you might think you do it once and then enter just the code for every button - WRONG!
Thanks, smurfette, for a valuable hack that works. You`re a star.
I think this whole region-restricted hardware racket is an outrageous scam. In fact, I believe it`s probably illegal under UK law. Would it be legal to produce a radio which would only receive "correct" programmes? I`m going to put a petition on the Downing Street website to make illegal the sale in the UK of DVD players which will not play all DVDs, from anywhere in the world. I urge you all to sign it.
