Hack Help Forum
I after a hack for the Philips 710/700, or 710 002 as it says on the back. You can`t imagine my frustration upon realising i couldn`t play my disc on the player, i was convinced it was multi-region. What an idiot! Help would be appreciated.
Try the hack I posted below for the Philips 711.
If not, try www.dvd-debate.com, I`ll sure they`ll have a hack (as there is one).... please note, once you do get it hacked, it only works a maximum of 25 times - so make sure the last change is to the region you want the machine in constantly..

RE: Philips 710 Hacked 25 times help!
My 710 player is now locked in region 1 which is no big emergency at the mo but I would like to know if I will be able to change it back to region 2 without having to have it chipped. Thanx
RE: Philips 710 Hacked 25 times help!
Unfortunately, the only way now is to get it chipped.
Hence the LIMITED 25 Changes rule.......
RE: Philips 710 Hacked 25 times help!
Philips will fix it if you send it back to them, but once again this only gets you another 25 changes.
Its listed in our partially hackable section here:
http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/partial.asp?Page=2
that worked a treat, i don`t know how i missed the page on that (duh!), and it will do me until i get one of these kits.
I had to watch my region one dvd in black and white though, is there any way of getting colour?
Thanks again, Azrael.
Azrael -
I`m not too technically minded, but I have a feeling that it may be your TV that has the problem.
I used to have a playstation that had been chipped to play Japanese/US games. If the TV wasn`t NTSC compatible, then the disc would still work but the picture would be in black and white - you could be having the same problems.
I hear with some discs B&W is a prob, me, luckily haven`t had the prob, but I`m using a 711 player.......
I`m sure someone may have a solution to this prob, what DVD were you playing ???
I was playing `Night of the Warrior`, not terribly well known i guess, maybe it is my tv that has the problem but it is relatively new. I`ll fiddle around and see if i can change it. I hope i can because DVD`s are so much cheaper from America, i`d like to be able to take advantage of that.
I`m guessing that it can`t be helped though. It`s still a good film in black and white! :D
PS. i`m going away for a week, no further replies till next week (just in case you think i`ve abandoned you!!)
Azrael :)
