Page 1 of Pint of beer
General Forum
Just finnished work at lunch time for 2 weeks,so I met up with a mate who has Fridays off and we went to our local Wetherspoons.£1.39 a pint. After several rounds,we thought it was time to get a bit closer to home so we went to our local.£2 a pint. Why the difference?I`m from N.Ireland, how much does anyone else pay for a pint in the UK?
It depends on the client I suppose, Wetherspoons is competing against other trendy bars and clubs while your local will have little or no competition, but also there`s a pub down the road from me that sells pints for £1.30 and bottles for £1.50, which is in a scummy area, my local which is in a nice area charges £1.80-£2 for a pint and £2.70 for a bottle, but I always prefer to go there since the people are better.
what ever happened to this being a dvd forum?

The general forum is for general chat. And it is about the price of beer which is a very important subject.
My brother told me how Wetherspoons can sell their beer so cheap. What they do is buy beer in bulk, which is near to its sell by date, hence they get it dirt cheap, but because they sell it so cheap, they get rid of it before the date is up anyway.
Also the fact that they do not play music in their establishment means that they do not need an entertainments license.
Is this total crap or not?

Used to work in the trade. What you said is spot on, that is why Weatherspoon`s are cheap.

Beer in N.Ireland is obviously v. cheap. Down here in the South East you`ll have to pay around £10 a pint and there`s also a waiting list - not to mention the gazumping...
