Sky Box Office

My sky viewing card has been full for a few months now - possibly over a year, yet I`ve never received a bill from sky showing any box office (or low quality filth) purchases. Can sky still charge me for films ordered over 12 months ago if I call and have the card cleared?

The only way I know of that they could not clear the card from their end is due to your digibox not being connected to your phoneline.

Apparently they access the digibox during the small hours every/every other day to check if anything has been ordered.

If it is disconnected, they cannot check the box......however it has a limit, and when the card is full, you need to reconnect the phone line to allow them to clear it. Then they will charge you for all Box office orders.

Even if it was up to or over 12 months ago, they will probably still charge you for them.

Hope this helps!

Can you not take the card out the machine, ring them and say that you broke it, and could they send you a new one? Might be a bit of a dodgy idea that one... Both legally and technically (ie it might stop your box from working).

My Grundig Digibox doesn`t let me order a Box Office presentation if the box isn`t connected to the phone line, i assume it`s the same with all Digiboxes.

The phone line is indeed connected. The last time I phoned sky, they told me they couldn`t `communicate` with my card which meant that i wouldn`t be able to order films on box office. As soon as I got off the phone I ordered Analyze This ( yes this is how long it has been since i`ve been charged) and duly watched it 2 hours later with no charge appearing on my next or any subsequent bills.

The only time i plug the Digibox into the phone line is when i order a film or use TV banking, other than that its always disconnected, i still manage to get the bill though, although recently i haven`t been getting bills for some movies, i know the letter takes time to come but it`s been a awful long time (months).

What do you mean by your viewing card is full? I haven`t a clue!

All viewing cards have a credit limit on them. Therefore, if you order say 8 films (not sure what the limit is), and they cannot access the box to check for them, remove them and subsequently bill you for them, then the card will remian full.

Stupid though it may sound, the phoneline needs to be connected to order a B.O. film, but they do not take billing details at the time of order. This is done at another time usually overnight (when people may be asleep). They access the box via the phoneline and check for B.O. purchases stored it.

However, I`m not sure whether purchases are stored on the Digibox memory, or the viewing card.....If it is the card, and there are problems with it, then this would explain them not being able to bill for them if the phone line is connected.

May be worth noting, that the contract with Sky states that the Digibox MUST be connected to the registered home phoneline at all times.
