Ah, but maybe you are a sinner and need saving :D

The problem is that you are indoctrinated from birth and through your youth to believe in one form or other about religion, and either conform and accept, or question and deny.

Religion and worship was there from early man knowing that one day you are no longer breathing, and the only big question is .....are you just a piece of meat, or do you have an everlasting soul that goes on.

Organised religion got in on the act, and greed, control, war, suppression and unspeakable acts were made in the name of religion.

You had to conform to society or get tortured, hung, burned or ostracized

It is only today and in free countries where religion no longer has control, that you have the freedom to make you own mind up, on God, religion, life after death, heaven and hell, and if the number 42 is the real answer.

We will as individuals find out on our last day, or maybe not.

I think you're all looking at this the wrong way.

I don't think this is an argument about the existence of a God, I think that's just the excuse to get this to court.

This is just another stupid tit for tat of the eternally offended.

This is the world we live in now.

Freedom of speech, I s*** it...

Well the existence of God is part and parcel with Blasphemy laws as the meaning of blasphemy is...

the action or offence of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk.

Mind you I do not think it will come to a court situation, likely just give Fry a written warning or brush it under the table, as it would be more detrimental to Southern Ireland's reputation than it would be to Steven Fry's.

Si, that's the point I was trying to make.

Bandi, blasphemy laws are a means of oppression. Nothing else.

And apparently not enough (read: no-one) was actually offended

Yep , as I said, brushed it under the table, to save a fuss and a big can of worms.

That conspiracy mindset of yours must run deep Bandi,

You were right that it would come to nothing, because it was in fact nothing. There isnt anything being brushed under the table to avoid fuss. You seem to be over thinking it.

Well...duh....I know that (and I know that sounds more insulting than I mean it to).

Of course I understand what blasphemy laws are for and what they cover, my point was that I doubt they were invoked for any serious breach of them, more that one of the eternally offended invoked them just because he could.

And so it proved...
