This is a bit desperate of The Independent, surely?  I know our papers have been praying for a scandal similar to Watergate but I can`t really see the parallels myself.

I think all the other papers and those politicos rubbing their hands in glee should be careful what they wish for.
Once you lift a stone there`s no knowing whats going to wriggle out.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Well The Independent is a quality newspaper that would never stoop to those levels, much like The Guardian, so their glee at this sort of thing is inevitable really.

The Times would be joining in if it wasn`t for who owned it.

But Watergate looks a bit of a thin comparison to me too. That was the government being caught out by a newspaper, and whilst I`m sure Cameron made promises to Murdoch/Brooks, he is a politician and the moment his own neck is on the line he`ll throw them in it to save himself.

No, the WMD/Iraq war debacle was our Watergate but Blair and Campbell got away with it.

This is arguably worse; if any politicians/police are found to have known and did nothing, hang the f*ckers.

The one good thing to come out of this is that R Murdock will not get his greedy hands taking over Sky Television, as I was expecting a massive price hike if he did.
