Total bollocks but this is what the "justice" system in this country has come to,.
"Lets not send them to jail and then we can artificially deflate the figures"

200 hours Community service and an 18 month ban?
HELLO! HE HAD NO F**KIN INSURANCE AT THE TIME!
AND NO LICENCE!
What ****ing deterrant is an 18 month ban to anyone not giving a monkey`s about a licence in the first place and it`s not going to hit him in his insurance cos he just doesn`t ****ing have any.

Sorry about the multitude of swears but this really gets me.. time this country sorted itself out but we`re all too spineless to actually do something about it.
(And yes, I include myself there cos we all know if we started to rally we`d soon be arrested for it)

Glad you were ok though Neili.

Bloody ridiculous isn`t it? 200 hours of community service and an 18-month ban, wow, that`ll teach him.

I may be over simplifying here, but if they locked the buggers up and made them work off their debt to society while they`re in there then they would 1) be off the street and 2) be doing something useful for everyone else. Does that sound wrong?

My sympathies, Neiliboy.

edit: And none of that `sentenced to 4 years, automatically out in 2 on licence` crap either. Sentence should equal time served.

I always find it puzzling when folks caught drivng with no licence/insurance are given driving bans, if your ignoring the rules in the first instance do they think a ban will make any difference?

The sad thing is the outcome of these events are no real surprise :(

I can`t watch Traffic Cops or anything similar, it drives me mad when they show these scum racing around the streets then say they have no license and obviously no tax or insurance.

Then at the end of the show they say the case was thrown out because of not enough evidence or they get a couple of hundred pound fine.

Normally a less than a quarter of what I`ve been paying every year for tax and insurance for the last 18 years.

Makes you wonder who the mug is.

Or best still, its a 15 year old so they give them a 1 year ban, so they are banned from driving while they too young to drive in the first place. Arghhhh >:(

Happy thoughts, happy thoughts, happy thoughts, breath, ...... ok I`ve calmed down now.

All the best

Gerald.

I`m afraid the answer is contained in your thread title.
We do not have a justice system we have a legal system.
The two are mutually exclusive.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I would argue they often collide, if not enough for most people.

Is there no way, now he has lost this case, you can persue compensation from him? :(
