What are you reading thread

Searched for the old one and couldn`t find it.
Didn`t look too hard though to be honest.

Anyway, I`ve been looking for a new book to read so I thought I would recommend the one I just finished. Actually, it was two, as they are to be part of a trilogy

Zombie books called, Day by day: by JL bourne

I really liked them, enough in fact to recommend them. Another part of a trilogy that I enjoyed was The Strain by Guillermo del Toro. Which you are probably aware of already.

Since I finished them I have been listening to James Herbert`s The Fog - which I wrongfully assumed was the same as the film the Fog. T`aint. Anyway, that`s pretty good and it`s read well.

I don`t go out of my way to be weird, honestly.  What I`m currently into are the works of Thorne Smith who wrote the Topper novels (made into three wonderful movies in the 1930s and 40s starring Roland Young in the title role.

James Thorne Smith wrote rather racy fantasy comedy novels about people being haunted by amiable ghosts, or who inadvertently turned into skeletons at the most inopportune moments, or who found themselves at the centre of great intrigue at a fashionable nudist colony.  Smith drank as readily as his characters, and died at the woefully early age of 42.  After his death, Norman Matson completed Smith`s last work - The Passionate Witch - which was made into the movie I Married A Witch and inspired TV`s Bewitched.

Not sure if I mentioned these before but the Ghengis Kahn series by Conn Iggulden are amazing!

Fatal Revenant
Stephen Donaldson

...and currently working my way through the whole Sherlock Holmes on audio. The Beeb dramatisations with Clive Merrison as Holmes and Michael Williams as Watson.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I`m not sure what to read now having just finished War and Peace last night which, at nearly 1000 pages and over 1,000,000 words, took me nearly 3 weeks.

I`ve ordered Anna Karenina (the DVD of the film is coming out near the end of September) and I`m not sure whether to start that or read something shorter before the follow-up to the previously mentioned The Strain arrives as I know I`ll be desperate to read that. I have plenty of unread books and others around that I would love to read but there are many so many hours in the day and, with many reviews coming up, and not sure how much time I`ll have to get stuck into a good book.

Currently reading The Lovers by John Connolly, it is one a numberof novels he has written with PI Charlie Parker as the lead.

He is is PI with a difference in that he can see ghosts or sense stuff from the other side so is morally obligated to help. Pretty good series of book with decent side characters. This one concentrates on why his father killed two people and committed suicide when he was a kid.

Very like the `Felix Castor` character by Mike Carey.
Have read all his `Castor` books, really enjoyed them.
I read whatever I pick up in the library, I have no idea if the authors are `cool` or not.
Currently reading a David Baldacci novel called `Simple Genius`.
It`s got me hooked.

Great author has some really good books and meaty too so they last longer than one commute. I have a few of his books at home.
