Oh good, another national postal strike
So, there`s already f*** all chance of me receiving any of the items I`ve been waiting on for the past few weeks (or being compensated for them), and now there`s a national strike. Fantastic. Can`t these people stop blaming each other and sort it out?
RE: Oh good, another national postal strike
My local postmen have been striking at least one day a week for months, sometimes twice a week.
I reckon I`ve had at least a dozen items go "missing" including a £170 Beatles CD boxset, not happy about any of it >:(

RE: Oh good, another national postal strike
Aye, my Dawn of the Dead BD set has failed to arrive after two weeks. I have quite a few purchases inbound as well, which I ordered because I thought the one day strikes were coming to an end. I`m more worried about the BDs I have en route from Holland and the Star Trek TNG movie boxed set a friend just sent me from the States for my birthday. If that goes missing we`ll never get the money back (and I`ll miss out).
Causing me problems at work as well, what with timesheets being delayed or getting lost. Yeah, it`s s*** that their jobs/pensions are being f***ed, but stopping me from getting paid isn`t the best way to gain sympathy (same was true with the ill-fated petrol strikes).

Funnily enough I was about to say how the Guardian reported that , but today`s BBC story about the strike had Amazon denying that. that denial isn`t in the BBC postal strike article now.
I read on another forum some people saying how they`ve stopped using some retailers who still use royal mail when they pre-order games and want them on release date, as they`re fed up of them arriving a week late.

RE: Oh good, another national postal strike
In the past, I`ve always been 100% behind the Posties. My Dad and maternal Grandad worked for RM in the past and both could tell me tales of what incompetent out-and-out bastards management has been dating back as far as the last War.
In this dispute however, both sides are equally guilty of intransigence and are obviously hell bent on running the service into the ground.
With today`s decision to call a nationwide strike, IMHO the Communication Workers` Union has shot itself in the head. If there is a national strike, and if affects the run-up to Christmas, the people who use RM will switch allegiance to the other courier companies - not least those desperate incompetents HDNL - and when the strike is over, they will not come back.

I don`t need one of those Brain Training games.
Mine can already roll over and play dead.

My dad just told me he`s been waiting in all day for a parcel from Cdiscount to be delivered by.....HDNL.
Online tracking says "08/10/2009 09:15:00 - The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van"
As its now 20:45 I`d say that`s another "missing" item to add to a very long list :(
