If this was coming from anyone else, I`d try to take it seriously, but gems like;

Quality journalism is not cheap
Yours is. The cheapest humanly possible

In order to stop readers from moving to the huge number of free news websites, Mr Murdoch said News Corp would simply make its content "better and differentiate it from other people".
Better? This is the company that owns The Sun, the daily Mail and FOX news, for god`s sake.
Why pay for his purile toilet paper when you`ve got Fark?

I heard this earlier and had to laugh. The BBC and The Daily Mash provide all the news I need :)

RE: NewsCorp (Murdoch) to start charging for online news services
Considering that investigative journalism is almost a dead art in the UK and most of the main news comes from wire services or press releases, I can`t see this being a starter. You`ll have the odd die-hards who`ll pay for an article from The Times, but most sensible people will realise that around 95% of news (as fact) will be available on a free service elsewhere.
The only difference really is with columnist opinions and would people really pay just for an article from Polly Toynbee or Richard Littlejohn?

Quality journalism & Murdoch are mutually exclusive.
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
Heartily glad that I don`t have to learn how to spell Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Don`t read the cr*p while it`s free so I`m certainly not paying for it.
Snaps
I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Unless all the other papers start doing the same, no-one will pay to read the Sunday Times online.

RE: NewsCorp (Murdoch) to start charging for online news services
As I understand it, all the other print media have been waiting for a while for News Int to make the first move before they start charging. It`s quite likely they`ll all charge because they are all losing revenue fast as fewer & fewer people are buying print media. It`s unsustainable for them to supply free news online while charging for newspapers. They don`t really have much of a choice. Their biggest prob is that BBC will always be `free` and high quality.
