New car seatbelt?

Brian Elliott (Reviewer) posted this on Friday, 6th February 2009, 09:59

Hi guys,

The spring in my driver`s-side seatbelt has gone, meaning that it won`t pull back into it`s place when I`m not wearing it. The car is a Citroen Saxo Desire 1.1, from 2002, and Citroen want nearly £300 to fix it. I am not up for that!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for one, perhaps online? I`d have no problem with a second-hand seatbelt if the price was right. I`ve tried various dumps/skips etc at the suggestion of a mechanic I know, but with no luck.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Tried them all in the area and they said they`d have nothing for a car as new as 2002.

Try these - you need to register and you`ll probably get updates from them for ages but they found me stuff for my HRV when I didn`t want to pay dealer prices on a window motor.

What do they want for the part though seeing as you`ve obviously prepared to do it yourself.
No Citroen motorfactors do that sort of thing?

The trouble with buying a used seatbelt is that you don`t know its history.
If it`s come from a crashed car then it stands to reason it`s already had to restrain someone from a major impact already.
it could be stretched and weakened, the restraining mechanism might be weakened etc.etc.
I`d be looking for a new one if I were you, sorry. :(
