Good news about retaliatory negs on ebay..

You can`t get them any more!!

As of last week sometime, it`s now become impossible to leave a buyer a negative or neutral feedback score. Of course, you could still leave negative comments in the actual comment section, but as long as the positve is there, who cares??

I think it`s a terrible idea, buyers are just as capable of scamming and leaving people out of pocket, or just being obnoxious and difficult, as sellers are. It should have been left how it was. Retaliatory negs suck, but tarring all sellers with the same brush is not the answer.

Indeed, but as feedback is supposed to be left after the initial transaction has taken place (goods paid for/goods delivered) then surely a buyer paying for the goods is fulfilling his part of the deal. at least initially

I`ve already heard of buyers leaving negs after 3 days saying `where`s my stuff`

It`s the worst thing ebay have done and they`ve done some pretty stupid stuff.

Why should a seller not be able to leave a buyer a negative for taking 3 weeks to pay?? Or just not paying at all??

Retaliatory negs are a bad thing, but then again, so is leaving a seller a negative because it was delayed in the post or that it cost 50p less to post than was charged.

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

In a perfect world where everyone`s honest then that`s fine, but if a seller leaves immediate feedback when all the buyer has done is pay within the time allowed by the guidelines, then if the buyer then tries to scam him/her there`s no warning for others. If the seller waits to leave feedback (back in the day when negs could be given, this is moot now of course) then the feedback will be more useful as it`ll be feedback on the entire transaction not just the first stage of it.

Getting a positive quickly for simply paying always puts my mind at rest that there won`t be any problems with the transaction though so I like when sellers do that. :)

Exactly but on eBay`s planet only sellers mess people about.

Their next trick will be banning all payment methods other than PayPal.

Totally agree - something should have been done about that. Why do 99% of sellers wait until they`ve been left feedback before they do too? If they would have acted in the spirit of feedback too (i.e. my feedback is that this person paid promptly so it`s a positive..) then the changes wouldn`t have been anything like as drastic...
Personally, as I`m basically a buyer I think it`s a great thing. The few things I`ve bought in the last few weeks I`ve had great help with from the sellers too...........
EDIT:LOL stantz, you commented in the original thread... :)

I am primarily a buyer too; but I like things to be fair and to get both sides of the story when I see a seller has negs. If any sellers go off in a strop over eBay treating them all like crooks then there will be fewer people for me to buy tat from! :D

As a buyer (mostly) I also think it`s a good idea. What would be a better idea, is if they only showed up your feedback and the other persons feedback when you`d both left it. That way, you wouldn`t know what one another had left, and wouldn`t be able to retaliate.
