parking at Manchester Airport - short stay...

retrogeezer (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 10th April 2008, 19:41

Got to drop off my sister in law on Monday, need to stay at the airport for 4-6 hours and thats £10-£15 at the airport.

Is there somewhere in walking distance to park or are we stuck for any options?

I`ve never been there so don`t know what the area is like at all.

Cheers

It`s basically in the middle of nowhere - they even charge about £1.50 to drop somebody off now. Security you understand... >:(
There are a few hotels near (Hilton etc.) but I don`t know how they control access to them.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

i think to be fair if you are driving more than one person in, then the parking will be the cheapest option, you can easily commute by train to the airport and fairly cheaply, but that adds up if there are a few of you, and also its the time factor!

Well, there will be 3 adults and 1 child so parking looks like the sensible option.

Is`nt there a museum there or something with a Concorde?

....been there and had a look around. Sat in the pilot`s seat :-) You can see it when taking off but not practical for parking and getting to the airport.. You can get married and have your reception on it lol. A bit cramped..

In reply to the original question. Nope! you`re pretty much stuck with their parking rates.

Unless changes recently its free to drop off passengers if you simply drop them off but if collecting passengers then you are forced into the car park. One option here is to get the person to collect you from the railway station which can be accessed from the terminal via walkway

One good thing though - at least it aint Heathrow T5
