Page 1 of Portable heater for garage?
General Forum
I`m on the hunt for a portable heater for the garage. I only need it for when I`m working on the mountain-bike, so I don`t want to pay the earth.
I was thinking gas/parrafin, as I figured a mains heater would prove costly. Has anybody got anything similar/recommendations?

RE: Portable heater for garage?
Get a Hat and a couple of fleece`s from primark...... in the long and short time you`ll save TON`s of money ?!
The difference being that in one your heating the whole area and in the other your just heating yourself ??
( save the planet man ! LOL )

I thought about a patio heater, but I don`t really want to spend that much because I`ll not have much to spare (just buying a new bike you see :D ).
I suppose I`ll find something. It`s only to keep me warm while I shout profanities at my useless tools, bike etc. (nothing to do with my mechanical skills, of course :/ ).

Hi, Dvd.
Thanks, that`s a really nice offer, but my mate has just brought me one round (although I`ve yet to try it). Again, thanks for the offer...I would`ve taken you up on it too. Thanks for the nice gesture, mate...really appreciated :D

I`ve been working in freezing garages for 30 years now :/
There`s little will work properly in a garage, as they aren`t set up to retain heat.
You have massive gaps between the door/s and the frame/s.
You have open vent bricks.
You have exposed, freezing cold, brickwork.
You have exposed, freezing cold, concrete floors. ( I have lino, but it`s still cold )
Unless you convert the garage into a proper `room`, with wall panelling etc, you`re wasting your time and money.
Nothing really beats loads of warm clothes.
I like to buy cheap fleeces from the likes of Matalan.
They only cost a fiver, so it doesn`t matter if I get `em filthy.
I barely bother washing them, I just throw them out.
I totally understand what you are saying, Bowfer. I guess I`m just nesh! :D
To be honest, my hands are the things that suffer the most, and wearing gloves is not practical, so I just wanted something to keep the old blood circulating. As soon as my hands get cold, I can`t bloody use them properly.
Damn, I sound like an old man! :/
