Where to begin?

Had a really stressful week with the wife, went out for a beer with a couple of the lads tonight in Soho. Walked past a club and this girl offered us each a lapdance for £20. Why not we thought and accepted.

Alarm bells should have been ringing there!

We were led downstairs and then separated

Again, alarm bells should have been sounding like sirens....sadly they werent!

After 2 mins this girl takes my £20 and then leaves the room, going to get the lapdancer she says. Then this big black fella comes in and tells me that I am in a hostess club, that I am trying to pay for sex and that I must pay for the hostess` time @ £295, plus membership to the club of £50, and something else for another £50. I get up to go, and he stands right in front of me and the door and shouts "please do not use violence sir" and proceeds to tell me that if I do not pay up the £350 allegedly owed that it will be put in the hands of their solicitors, alongside the tape of me allegedly soliciting for sex and sent to my home. Then I noticed the CCTV camera set up in there and I was well and truly done. In all honesty I was bracing myself for a beating, or for 4 thugs to march me to a bank and force me to withdraw this money.

My wallet was liberated of £40, and my driving licence taken as ID (it never left my sight) and then they finally let me go.

Phoned the police and they have said that I will never see my money again, nor will my two mates, and that they are just empty threats and this is unlikely to go any further but since it was a civil matter there is little they can do.

I am the last person who would normally get caught out by something like this as I normally smell a con a mile off.

Has anyone else been in this type of situation and what came of it?

I feel so f***ing stupid, I told my wife the truth straight away and while concerned that I was ok has just laughed it off as one of those things and not to worry about it.

Dont ever drop your guard in london guys, it can cost you.

So f***ing angry at what was little other than a mugging, and being held against my will with the threat of blackmail on top of it.

I didn`t have to read further than this I knew exactly what happened. :( :(

Same thing happened to a friend while travelling around Europe with a mate (Bulgaria but obviously happens everywhere), they got roughed up when they refused to pay. It was a lot more money too - they managed to leg it and spent the night at their hostel scared s***less and left the next morning.

Why can`t they do anything?? Surely it`s not difficult to mike someone up and send the past the place in plain clothes.

This is extortion/threatening behaviour etcetc surely??

Sorry to hear you got conned - it`s not a nice feeling is it. So was it `only` £40 you got fleeced for?

If u told the police im 99% sure others have and nothings been done about it? stinks to high heaven if u ask me, some coppers got his holiday to the far east well and truly paid for.

Yeah, only got fleeced for the £40 in the wallet....could have been much much worse.

Still really annoyed though, clearly set up for the impression that its taped, pleading with you not to use violence, talking about soliciting for sex and then threatening to send the tape home.....

Hopefully some day that goon`s going to say "don`t use violence, sir" and the punter`s going to say "oh, I insist".

Bloody hell, London is expensive. I`d hate to think what you`d be charged in a reputable establishment and not being accosted on the kerb.

I too read the first line and knew exactly where it was going. Sorry you got stung, but it coulda been worse...

My friend and I found ourselves walking through Soho one Sunday evening a few years back, as part of a stunt for a radio show. The stunt never happened though, as we too were taken in by a girl on the street inviting us in for a drink.

We weren`t separated, fortunately, but when we sat down another girl came over and asked if she could sit with us. Bonus, we thought, why not? Her sitting down cost £30 alone. Our beers cost a fiver each. Her cocktail cost £75. And it went on...

We ended up £260 out of pocket. Thank god for expenses....
