V+ box on Virgin Media

RichTea (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 5th December 2007, 19:16

Just had a call from Virgin and have been offered virgin all in one service (TV/Internet/Phone) for a good price.

Does anyone have the V + box and how does it compare to Sky+, which we have at the moment,

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich.

Don`t have either, so can`t comment on which is the best, but the V+ box can record 2 channels whilst watching another. The sky+ can only record one and watch one.

I`ve had my V+ box about a month now...I`m really pleased with it (got it for free as incentive not to cancel Virgin when I had a good Sky+ offer the offer week).

Can`t compare with Sky+ as never had it but like previous post said, you can record 2 programmes while watching a 3rd...a small point but can come in quite handy.

Oh yes, and it`s a HD box, which the standard Sky+ box isn`t :-)

Hello,

I`ve had Sky+ and V+
Features are great and recording options are great but for me it was just too slow compared to Sky+.
That was the only downside for me.

Neil.

Had a leaflet through the post yesterday, currently you can get a V+ box installed for £75 rather than £150 (for exisiting customers), then I it`s an extra £5 a month if you don`t have the XL tv package.

Does say it`s HD, also you can record 2 channels, while watching a 3rd, 80hrs record time.

I like they way in the blurb it explains how good it is by saying it`s like Sky + :)

Also if anything goes wrong with it, the repair it for free.

Is there a code on the leaflet that you have to quote when you ring up?

From the Virgin Media website: Quote:
Installation: £75 (usually £150)
Plus, if you`re a new customer you also get our £30 online discount.
Booked in for 2nd January - the earliest it could be fitted - it must be popular. It`s not going to cost any more in terms of a monthly charge - just give them a ring and ask what it`ll cost.

Just rang up got it for £75 but could not get installed b4 xmas being isnstalled on the 09th jan.
How do they do the bill with this v+ box?
I had to pay the £75 on my card to get it started then she said you will £150 paid on the bill then £75 refund on bill so does that make it £150?
