Double delivered goods, what d`ya reckon ?

bowfer (Elite) posted this on Friday, 2nd November 2007, 11:50

Here`s one for you.
We ordered a pile of PC`s and a printer through PC world business.
Cut a long story short,we got the printer weeks ago, but the laptops were on back order.
The laptops turned up earlier this week, along with another printer... :/
Obviously, we`ve signed for the printer.
So far, no sign of PC world phoning saying "give us our printer back"
We`ve stuck it away somewhere safe, but how long before you`d have the balls to actually use it ???

When I got 5 of what I ordered from ebuyer I just wrote them an email using the standard contact saying if you wanna collect you have 7 days to do so at your own cost after which I shall dispose of the said item (ebay).

Got no reply made a little money didn`t feel bad.

Job done.

You think ?
Spose the worst that can happen is that they notice the error, we then say "oops, we`ve been using it"....?
We just feel so damned guilty about doing it!

Keep one boxed & in reserve (for when it falls over), use it & then send it back when they notice.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

I had a similar thing with a TEAC stereo once ... it broke after about 3 months, so i called them to get it fixed under the warranty, they said they would just send me a new one imeediately, and would get a courier to collect the broken one within 28 days.

Anyway, new one arrives next day, then about 3 weeks (plus several phonecalls) later courier finally collects the broken one. 3 days later another new one arrives, with a note saying thanks for returning the broken one, and that having tested it they have decided to send a replacement rather than repair it! I called them up, and explained, and they said a courier would collect it (!) but never did .... i think i waited a couple of weeks before using it ;)

I could understand that if it was a small independant shop that you had bought from but a massive player like PCWorld should know better than to make errors like this and they really wouldn`t thank you for your honesty if you reported it. I vote using it now:D.

Just to clarify, I meant i could understand Bowfer feeling guilty about using the printer if it was from a small independant shop and that he shouldn`t feel guilty about it when it`s from a big retailer like PCWorld.

I didn`t mean i`d expect mistakes from a small company but not from PC World.

Reading my previous post back i can see where you got confused:D.
