When exactly r we going to sort this lot out??? Im very liberable in most things (crime excepted) but I do wonder just what sort of message we are sending when the British Navy...remember OUR NAVY is taken by IRANIAN Gunboats??? FFS since when did some camel jockeys get the technology and numbers to take us on in arguably of course (benefit of doubt) our waters according to UN mandate.

Do you see them taking out an american ship?? They would have been in there by now kicking ass and chewing gum...and all outta gum (one of my fav movie quotes sue me) while our pussys in westminster sit about and moan and whine. I can see the iranians s***ting themselves when they eventually get the nuclear technology which we sold them in the 1st place (almost certainly)

Saw guy on Question Time last night whos son in plymouth with navy was asking what the gunboat supposed to be supporting the ship was doing not spotting the iranians and an american asking why they didnt defend themselves, again can u really see an american ship not firing on them?? Im not pro american by any means but there is a time and a place and we shoud be standing up for ourselves b4 (if we aint already) we are a laffin stock.

thats fairly easy to say when you not the ones in small ridged raider type craft against several well armed gunboats.

The saliors and marines would have suffered a huge loss of life to make a point over what?

I wonuld much rather be held captive for a week or two then lose my life or be injuried in an unwinable position.

Its common practice to send several small craft to check a ship and the large warship stand off several miles to avoid missle attack.

Just hope they are safe and well.

Thats fine fighting is last straw but how the hell did they let them get so close??? And why r our ships out there if they are unable to defend themselves properly???

gunships are very small targets on radar if u can see them at all :/

You would normally heave the ship and check it out with the heli then send you boarding party I assume the Iranian`s did not like thier stolen cars not being deliverd lol

A few miles is nothing to a small gun ship and all you have to do is mask yourself between the cargo ship and the warship once the heli has gone away.

I think the navy were just waiting for this to happen and its just another reason for the UN to kick Iran`s butt. Shame they are so dense and state two lots of incorrect coordinates of where the ship is.

O h well whats a few service people when you can have a full on war with Iran I can hear being muttered at HQ

The British goverment are being seen as very weak on this occassion. No doubt the British & Americans will join forces if the Iranians don`t come to their senses.

European members France, Germany & Italy are still trading with them, at least with the Americans you know they are your friends. We may not get it right everytime but will always stand side by side with the British.

Lets hope these soldiers are released safe and well.

After 3yrs here, I should be heading back to the USA later this year. Unless I am asked to stay on again (Twice before).
I do agree with you, but look on the bright side they will not survive the next election. Thats what we are predicting in the banking world.

For the sake of getting the soldiers released I hope Blair is talking with Bush discussing the next phase (as Blair calls it) because if Iran won`t co-operate for a peaceful outcome, we will need to stand together to sort it. Most European goverments will be running for cover as usual.

Wouldn`t surprise me if the SAS get involved but it`s not gonna be advertised in advance.

If we assume that with global positioning they were in International, or Iraqi, waters then it has to be an act of war ........doh!

If with global positioning they did enter Iranian territory then bloody well say sorry and get them out.........doh!
