am looking for a sat nav for a xmas present, have seen garmin i3 and tom tom one that i like look of, can anyone give me any advice on which is best and where to get best deal please, thanks in advance
They did a head to head test on The Gadget Show and tomtom seemed to come out on top. I use tomtom myself (on a pda) and find it very good but I`ve never used anything else so can`t really compare.

from everythig i`ve seen tom tom seems to spank the rest
touch screen
&
7 digit postcode - they`re the most imortant things.....
i think Halfords have a got a deal on too.....and the last i saw was that Woolworths had a tomtom one at £185 which is a very good price......

Companies that have p**sed me off so much that I will never use them again and I hope you dont either....
Alloy Bodies of Manchester - The Grand Daddy & Benchmark for shockingly poor customer service.
Capital Bank Leasing who are part of BOS & are f**ing useless & struggle to action the smallest request but are fantastically efficient at taking money out of my account
Abbey National Absolutely diabolical service - how hard is it to change £60 of coins into notes????
....more coming soon no doubt.....
We got a TomTom One v2 (the new, slimmer one) for £179 delivered from halfords online. If you do a google for "tomtom one uk", you`ll see there are some official Halfords (and others) voucher codes to get you down to the £179 price.
PS we tried the cheap Asda one (Evesham 6200), and while it was OK, there were a few things that made us take it back and go for the TomTom instead. My wife loves it!

Hi, i disagree about tom toms being the best. :/
i subscribe to "which" online and in the last two tests on sat navs, garmin have come out both times as the best buys :)
in the last test the garmin nuvi 300 came out on top, and the test before that the garmin i3 was the best buy, beating sat navs which were twice the price!
i myself have purchased a i3 which although it has a small screen and no touch screen is very easy to use and very accurate when im travelling around .
just some other info to add, the army and airplanes use garmin systems for their navigation, which must say something!
and garmin use the navteq mapping system which is more accurate than the ones tom tom use.

hi, thanks for all the info everyone, does anyone know anything about the garmin c510? i can get that from dixons for 139.99 using a code which looks quite nice to me but i know nothing about it really, lol,in argos it is currently 199.99 reduced from 399.99, that seems awfully expensive, is that right??

yeh...they also use guns that don`t work! :D
why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive
Was also looking at SatNavs recently, went for the Tom Tom One in the end, got it for £160ish from Curry`s online (via vouchers on MSE) + some rpoints. Have only played with it so far (I get the car on Thursday :D ), still amazed that some places have no house numbers available (including my house which is now 4 years old).
Never ceases to amaze me why people don`t use the Sat Nav they were born ie their brain
Another example of dumbing down of human skills
