Very much a product of his age, in the days when I was a kid watching wildlife programs on the telly with the likes of Desmond Morris, Gerald Durrell and David Attenbrough he would probably have been a baccy chewing eccentric bending peoples ear in a bar.
But in todays world he must have introduced countless kids to the wonders of nature and kept them fascinated.
Definitely a one off.
