OK, pop quiz, what do you do?

You work in a popular retail store. You find a hand written notice telling you there is a bomb somewhere in your store. You only have procedures if the bomb threat is by phone call. And, it's the day before the 12 month anniversary of the London bombings.

Do you:-

A. A threat is a threat, and it might not really be an appropriate time to be a pedant.

Time for me to hang my head a little. Many years ago, working the night-shift at the hotel, I get a phone call. It`s 2.30am and the clubs have kicked out.

The person on the other end says "Listen, there`s a bomb in your hotel, if you don`t get everyone out now, it`ll be blown to pieces.." at which point I hang up. I kinda felt guilty afterwards, but thinking about it, i did the right thing, here`s why;

At 2am, every night, I did a walkaround of the hotel, where I check everywhere, and we had these little keys placed at strategic points to prove I did so. So tenacious was I when I went on these little walkabouts, that I once stopped a burglary by noticing a little finger poking out of a loft hatch.

It was 2.30, and the bloke sounded p***ed out of his skull, and had neither a middle-eastern or Irish accent (many years ago, remember?)

There was no bomb, nothing exploded, and a few months later, some tit called Stuart who used to work at the hotel was arrested & put away for making dummy bombs and ringing in hoax bomb threats.

I would do A) as I assume this still includes clearing the store and informing the police? if my manager had done nothing I would resign by giving them a good slapping, whilst recitingthe H & S act :D

In today`s day and age to ignore any threat is crazy..unfortunately the times we live in dictate A) as a minimum.

I`d go for A...would rather be safe and cause an unnecesary evacuation than risk not bothering and blowing everyone up!
