Any golfers on here?

mereallyme (Competent) posted this on Friday, 28th July 2006, 21:23

Looking to update my irons..can anyone suggest a good website for reviews etc? Been out of the game for a while but was a single digit handicapper.

Hello,
I`m an overkeen golfer...

www.golfbidder.co.uk is a good palce to pick up clubs and to see a good description of the clubs available.
...as for reviews, maybe pop into a good golf shop and try a few out yourself.

I really wanted Pings (after reading reviews) but couldn`t play them for love nor money, so settled for Taylor Made.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Neil.

I play off 10 and would recommend TaylorMade as well, I got a set of RAC irons a few years back and they are excellent clubs. Worked out around £250 after I traded in my old set.

Remember price/brand isn`t everything. You might see a nice set of Callaway irons at £700 but if you can`t hit them then it would be a waste of cash.

I`d suggest popping along to your nearest American Golf Discount store, grab a few irons you like the look/feel of and ask to hit a few shots with them and take it from there. They will show you on a video screen how you are hitting the clubs.

Good luck.

Gordy

Playing with Taylor Made is in no wat `settling` for anything... great clubs!! :)
Golf clubs are like cars anyway - saying I`ve got a Ford or I`ve got a Porsche.... within the `brand` there is a Hell of a range too....

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Didn`t mean it to sound like that, what I meant to get across was that I`d also set my heart on Pings, butjust couldn`t get on with them. The Taylor Made`s (RAC OS)
are so much easy to hit.

What are the chances of a DVDReviewer Golf Society??

Neil.

Appreciate the feedback. My intent was to go and try some before purchasing any specifically but wanted some feedback/reviews to narrow down the choice. RAC OS sound like a good place to start.

DVDReviewer Golf Society sounds like a great idea! Golf as I clearly remember was very addictive. Am looking forward to getting back to playing again.

Ok, So I spent the weekend out trying and looking at clubs. My choice, Mizuno. MP37`s. I used to play a blade club and that is essentially what I am replacing with these. They look gorgeous and when hit off the middle are a dream.

While browsing the internet this past weekend for my new clubs I came across a site called golfbreaks.com who are giving away a free Srixon golf ball for those who may be interested. We can all do with free golf balls. Direct link below:

Posted this in the Bargain Buckets forum too.

Sweeeeet!! Good luck with them, I wouldn`t have the confidence to play a blade personally...let us know how the first round goes!

...Me and friends are frantically signing up for balls now!

Thanks,

Neil
