Enable hack on richer sounds bought samsung dvd-709?

--oZ-- (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 28th March 2000, 21:48

I have read and tried the hack for the dvd-709 on this site (It failed for me), using an older style one-4-all 6 remote (I am gonna buy a newer one to make sure it was working correctly). I am now wondering if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on this the richer sounds sourced samsung dvd-709 to a newer firmware so that I can enable the hack, since the beginning of the article seems to say that the early firmware is the problem with these foreign 709`s (mine is french).
Could more experienced users help me out?

How old is your machine? Im pretty sure that Richer Sounds sourced models sold in the last few months (since The Matrix fiasco in fact) are all hackable.

It is 3-4 months old, I have only just tried to multiregion it though since I now have aregion 1 disc. I do have some problems with the matrix, when using the menu system selecting enter seems to change choice as well. In austin 2 it has problems with the commentary stopping at the end of each scene. Is this an example of the problems you were talking about? If so do richer sounds have a policy on this problem, and what is it?

Richer Sounds are VERY good about problems regarding kit bought from them. I`m sure if you rang and explained that you were experiencing problems with The Matrix and Austin Powers 2 they will most likely just offer an exchange.

However, as for the hack, your machine falls neatly into the pre v3.27 firmware category so this should work.

Thanks for the advice RJS I took back my machine to be firmware upgraded and got a loan machine in the meantime. So i`ll wait to do the hack on my own machine with the new firmware. What is the cheapest remote to get to do the job? I`m pretty sure my old one4all 6 can`t do it, maybe it needs an upgrade over the phone I not sure if even this would work (Does anyone know the phone number to call?)
What do I need to get the remote to emulate and which functions do I need to get it to trigger?

btw this is an ace site

I`d have thought your oneforall 6 WOULD work actually. It needs to simulate an Aiwa HiFi amp, your booklet should say if it can do this.

Ok but which model number aiwa amp and what specific functions does it need to emulate? I`m a bit unclear as to what the 079 key combo is supposed to be?
Also does any one know the one4all phone number for a recent upgrade?
Or even their web address?

Recent Addition: The guide on the hack says to use the Aud button on the one4all 6, mine doesn`t have this button so do you mean a newer version of the remote?

Does it have an Aux button?

The 079 I think simulates the random function. You select 121 to choose Aiwa amps. I dont think this is listed in some manuals for the remotes either.

Hello Guys

I have just changed my Ariston for a Samsung at Richer Sounds as I was having probs playing Pulp Fiction ( dual layer ) and also CD`s. They were unable to hack it for me as they did not have a region 1 disk !!! I have also invested in a Cambridge Audio M1 remote. Does anybody know if these remotes can be programmed to do the hack ???

Rgds

If they can emulate an Aiwa HiFi remote then I reckon the Cambridge Audio M1 can be used. Although you`d have to do a bit of fiddling to find the right combinations.

Do they have a support line or email addy you can ring/mail? I`m sure they`d tell you what to do in order to simulate the Aiwa buttons on our hack page.
