Aye, and their 1meg connection is going to 4 meg, but still at a higher price than the nearest competitor (who are also faster at 8 meg). Still, it`s put me off fo leaving them for the time being, mostly cause I can`t be arsed to change my email addy...

Where did you guys hear this news? I am currently on the 1MB connection. I was thinking of leaving but this could change my mind.

it`s happening right across the ntl/telewest network, the packages may vary slightly but the gist of it seems to be that everyones on 3meg will be able to get 10meg connections at no extra charge :) + the cap is increasing to 75gig a month :D

There`s no cap on Blueyonder. The speed increases are as follows:

512Kbps > 2Mbps
1Mbps > 4Mbps
2/4Mpbs > 10Mbps

Upload speed is also increasing from 128Kbps to 386Kbps - long overdue that one.

Funnily enough, I just got an email telling em that I can upgrade to the 2/4 meg services. Not that they`re trying to get a few extra quid out of people before the free upgrades come into effect. No sir, not at all.

Because I am impatient and tight, I was getting p***ed off that some lucky sods are paying £25 for 4mb and I was paying £25 for 1mb. BY have lowered the price of the oldskool 4mb to £35 so I thought I`d may as well get that for better value and also get the automatic upgrade to 10mb in December.

So the upgrade went through this evening. Reboot PC, hop onto apple.com to get a super high res trailer and marvel at speed.... speed maxes out at 22.6KB/s.

I threw a strop and rang technical support. Much faffing later and it`s revealed Yorkshire has been f***ed up for two days. She changes something and now I`m getting 2mb speed. Better than 1mb and still better value per mb... but grrrr! Lady on phone said it would fix "soon".

Bugger.

(My upstream has doubled though so at least someone`s benefitting!)
