Bluewater shopping centre bans baseball caps and hooded tops.
On the BBC here.
Is that really the solution??
RE: Bluewater shopping centre bans baseball caps and hooded tops.
Not really, considering I sometimes wear baseball caps and hooded tops. Though not often at the same time. But even so.
Oh my God, Bear is driving! How can that be?

I think it would have been easier, if less PC to have just banned chavs.
I believe that is their intent. :p

will they ban the shops from selling b-ball caps and hoodies then?
RE: Bluewater shopping centre bans baseball caps and hooded tops.
I can see their logic, but its one of those stupid knee jerk reactions to people working themselves into a lather about the chav menace.
On the weekends, I regularly wear a hat of somekind. mostly baseball caps. Not von dutch or those charver running caps made out of shell suit material. I mainly wear a cap because I cant be arsed to sort out my barnet. Would I be banned? Even though I look nothing like a Chav, am usually with my Mrs (who is hot, but smart) and I have money to spend?
And in the winter its not unheard of for me to wear a triple5 hoodie and a BB cap. Not standard pikey gear, but on the hit list.
Will they judge it on a case by case basis? Banned because they dont like the look of your face? They would do just as well getting Trinny and Susanna to stand outside vetting people.
In anycase, i dont know why they are so worried. Bluewaters a s***hole anyway. Or do I think that because the last time I went it was full of ratboys?
I Dont know Karate...but I know Ker-azy!

Some Aberdeen bars tried banning Burberry as a kneejerk reaction to chavs ( or `minks` as we call them up here ).
It caused quite a stir in the local media, but they quickly explained it was at the discretion of the door staff and was,in particular, aimed at Burberry caps.
The door staff know a `mink` when they see one,so an all-enveloping ban on Burberry was just silly.

I need something to cover up the baldness!! won`t be going to Bluewater then eh!
As i`m 32 - can I still be considered a chav?
RE: Bluewater shopping centre bans baseball caps and hooded tops.
I don`t think they will throw out the average shopper for wearing a hoodie and baseball cap, I think it is to stop groups of hoodie wearing basball cap hooligans, so if you go shopping with your mates make sure you obey the fashion police!!!!!
On a side note a lot of pubs, bars and clubs have banned hoddies, caps and burberry(fake) esque clothes. In fact almost all the places I go to are like that but most of the doorman just say take it off and put it in the cloak room or on seat and there is no probs. But then they are places were not many chavs go to as it requires some sort of money to be there!!

It`s a bit like saying that the way to get aggressive, inconsiderate wt[at]st off the road is to ban BMW`s. A baseball cap and/or hooded top does not necessarily a thug make.

Now that wouldn`t be kneejerk.
It would be excellent.
