Page 1 of TURKEY HOLIDAY - GUMBET OR MARMARIS? HELP PLEASE!

hi, im thinking about going to turkey this year with my wife and two kids aged 9 and 3, ive heard a lot of people say how nice turkey is, but we cant decide on whether to go marmaris or gumbet,

we want somewhere where theres plenty of restaurants and a nice beach, any suggestions on which resort and any recommendations on any apartments?

I went on a family holiday to turkey long time ago now about 8 yrs, but it was in Marmaris, was great lovely area gd for little kids plenty of enligh speakers if you like that beach was nice very hot.
When I went to book a holiday this year with my mates being 21 now they said that gumbet was a good location for us, I take that to mean it maybe be a partyish area so it may mean you want to avoid it. Although I am not too sure how marmaris is now with younger kids it may be a better bet.
One tip haggle for everything!!!

We went to Marmaris a couple of years ago & loved it.
Very friendly & clean...A great holiday! (Gotta go to turtle beach on a day trip...unbelieveable)
I`ve also heard great things about gumbet too...
If you decide on Marmaris, check out the "portabello hotel/apartments"..Great for families with a massive pool with slides, a smaller outdoor pool & also a fantastic indoor pool. Only downside is the 24 hour bar, so maybe a little noisy at night, but if you don`t have a pool view room (we didn`t), it`s not a problem.
Staff there are great (with all ages)

I`ve been to both and in my opinion Gumbet is miles better. Because of the kids ages marmaris has lots to offer, 2 waterparks loads of shops and if your hotel has entertainment, a good place to stay. But Gumbet is more secluded and more friendly, For example marmaris locals dont give a XXXX about kids, I found them all arrogant and rude. Gumbet locals could not do enough for you to have a good time. I`m going to Gumbet this year and looking forward to it.

Gumbet has a burger king, nearby is bodrum with a great market, mcdonalds and a waterpark for the kids.

I am off to Gumbet again on Monday, great place and great people.
Never been to Marmaris. Gumbet doesn`t have the same sandy beaches but its still great, with Bodrum having a harbour too.
Turgetries is just a short Dolmus ride from Bodrum and that has a great open beach, plus its very flat. People in Gumbet love kids and are always offering support to parents with alot to handle, and yes there is a Burger-King right on the main street, but to be honest all the resturants cater for the children, they go out of their way to make sure all is ok..I just love the place, I have no kids but I see what goes on, 3rd year running for me and my mate(her 11th), she always brought her son before he grew up, because it was such a great place.Have FUN. 8)
