Im off in 2 weeks for a couple of days and was wondering if any of you have been and if so, which are the best ones, for quality, comfort etc and im taking the missis too so any that are suitable for women would help too . We dont care how rough, just as long as they`re safe. Any help would be appreciated.

I would personally recommend the GREENHOUSE EFFECT, at Warmoesstraat 55. Its divided into a coffeshop and a bar. The grass in there is very good quality and value. The coffe shop itself is very long and narrow, not to everyones liking, but you can buy your gear in there then go next door to the bar, which is a cool a friendly place to hang out. Its just the right size and the sounds are the business. Litterally right across from that is HILL STREET BLUES (because its next door to a police station! Imagine!) That is a bit more extensive and looks a bit rough but is actually a bit more touristy, worth stopping in though.

The greenhouse is actually a mini hotel too. Heres a link to their page:

And no I dont work for them! I live in Dublin but have a lot of close mates in Amsterdam I visit every few months so have gotten to know the place quite well.

Bon voyage!

PS: Stay away from the chain of Grasshopper coffeshops. They are complete tourist traps.

I always liked La Caina for its Cheesy Decor and its powerful muffins. Barneys is excellent for Breakfast and a bong. The Rokery is good for Hashish and there is a specialist confectionary shop on Spuistrasse which does amazing Hash Pralines.

Of Course - this is from way back - so i`m not sure if these places exist anymore - gave up some time ago.

Enjoy!

There are two I would try. The Grasshopper and Picassos which is owned by a really funny guy who apparently never sleeps - he is pretty proud of the fact and tells everyone who goes in there that he has been up for several days. Those crazy dutch

LMFAO! richardbradley66 made such an effort to use innocent-sounding euphemisms in the original post, and you lot just come straight out and tell him the location of Amsterdam`s best drugs dens. Lovely stuff! :)

God you`re sexist at times Bradley!! I`m not THAT much of a helpless girly. I grew up in Manchester after all ;)

Anyway, adding to Richie`s thread, if anyone has any coffeeshop recommendations for good spacecakes it would be much appreciated as I don`t do smoking! Ta
I`ve already noted NoveltyCondomHead`s recommendation. Also, places that are actually comfortable to sit in for a while - do they exist in Amsterdam? usually the chairs are really high or wooden and make your arse go numb after a few minutes! lol

Thanks everyone, I`ll get back to the kitchen sink now... >:(
