Since rgb was sorted out and the manufacturer has reduced pixellation
it has improved a lot.We had one major faulty batch which just happened
to be 1000 pieces hence the number of complaints. We will soon
be launching a 5.1 version(NOT from the same maunufacturer) and also
the new lasonic. All the cheap players are problematic in one way or another becuase they all use the same c-cube"engine".Even my £300
pioneer 525 shows some pixellation on dark scenes.you pay for what you
get.

Thanks 4 the replies-nelley-do u work for this company then? If so,can u leave your icq/e-mail so i can get more info from you? if not, then just reply via the forum. "The Ironduke"said it has poor picture quality - you say "rgb has been sorted out"-what is rgb? does this all mean that if i was to order one now the picture quality won`t be (noticably) bad?
can you also put mpeg videos on a cd-r and play them on the player ?
are there any problems about the player i should know about ie.sound, picture etc.(i`m trusting you to be honest even though i think you work 4 the company & want to make a sale :-) )
THANKS AGAIN!

The picture quality will never be great unless the films you buy are all high quality sampled which virtually all DVD`s have a scene or scenes where the quality, bitrate drops. This is usually on the background as your eyes should be fixed on the performers.

Some players, especially budget players show these "artifacts" a lot more probably due to poorer colour output, in AV mode my scan use to bleed quite badly (Bright text or colours had a fuzz around the edges) on my New HITACHI 505 this is far less noticable but it did cost 300+!

The problem I had with my scan was the RGB colour output was way out, this since been fixed, but the reason I wanted a refund instead of aanother is the next batch after has SUbtitle problems.

I believe to fix this you had to install a chip from scan yourself.

The problem with DVD is some parts of the screen look awesome and someparts look slightly poorer, but then again Video is constantly average:P

If you buy the SCAN expect a player that is only half the machine of a 300 sony, and you will be happy as the budget player like the SC2000
are much better then that.

But I wouldnt trade my hitachi for one:)

The batch that came by airshipment 10 days ago had no problem
with subtitles. The shipment that is in stock now came by container
and left before the problem was sorted. We know have the chips to sort the subtitle problem out.

Even my pionner dv-o9 elite $1500 dvd player has shown artefacts as
well. You are right in saying that it depends on the source material
of the dvd and how good the duplication process is.
