Please read - Regarding "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"

I posted a thread last week in the Software forum about this, but it now seems that there`s going to be a lot of very p*ssed off people because according to Movietyme:-

>
No More English Subs On Crouching Tiger DVD
ERA, the Hong Kong distributer of the DVD, have informed us that the new pressing of the Region 3 DVD of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will not have English subtitles or the English dub track. Due to the mass exportation of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon DVD outside of Region 3, Columbia/Tristar felt it necessary to reauthor the DVD and remove both the English subtitles and the English dub track.
From the end of next week (after the final wave has shipped) all outstanding orders shall be cancelled. If you do require this disc, but without English subs etc please let us know and we shall place your order.

Luckily I cancelled my order last Wednesday with them, and then found another site who assured me they stocked it. I ordered and had it confirmed on Thursday, and what did I find in the post today? Yep, you guessed it. Talk about quick delivery.

I really do recommend these:- http://www.dvdasian.com and would suggest that if you still want to get "CTHD" then you should visit these straight away. Times running out! Make haste!

Guess we`ll have to wait for region 1 or 2 to come out then. Anyone know the release dates?

Dicanio, you don`t have to wait for it on Region 1 or 2, because you can get it from http://www.dvdasian.com still.
Just watched it, and its definitely worth getting.

Just ordered the disc from the site. Hope the film is as good as everyone says.
How long did the disc take to arrive after placing your order?

Ordered it last Wednesday, processed until Thursday night, which is when I recieved a confirmation of delivery process being started. I then had it posted through my letter box this morning.
Admittedly, that is very quick. I think I had Global Airmail Priority Post (5-10 days).

to prepare yourself when watching CTHD...

-Do not watch a martial arts film for a whole week in advance
-Have a open mind, yes Superman can fly, so can they !
-Put on your reading glasses as you don`t want to see how bad Michelle Yeoh`s mandarin is
-Have a good sound setup
-A large screen (the largest in the house, not on one that you put in the bog)
-Do not dwell about the plot midway through the film, especially during the quite moments, you`ll find bad points that way,. During these moments look at the anamorphic print and gasp in awe. You`ll quicky dispense of the need to ridicule.
-Make sure that you have had plenty of sleep before hand (8 hours minimum) or you will be bored to sleep during the slow scenes.
--Do not read any reviews or features or take in the hype.
If anthing watch a really bad film beforehand if you want full enjoyment.
-Watch it with the family.

Some points that should benefit you more than me.

Very good summary Yanshouwen. Having only watched it once so far, I`m not perhaps the best person to judge the film, but I do feel it has been very over-hyped. It is a great film, I will admit that, but maybe not what most people will expect.

>Their ability to fly - at first I couldn`t make out whether they were running over things, or simply flying, but then why would they be kicking? So I think I`m right in assuming that they can in fact run through air, on water, and even on tree branches. Basically they don`t seem too bothered about gravity. If you thought Jet Li looked weird jumping around mid-air in `Romeo Must Die`, just watch these! (didn`t want to compare these two films, seeing as `RMD` is complete pap, and plus in `CTHD` their martial art allows them to defy natural laws)

>I got a bit confused with what was going on, as half way through the film the plot suddenly twists completely around as we cut away to a romantic flashback. Which lasts for around 25mins. After watching I did realise that this was needed, but at the time it just seemed totally pointless. (Maybe I`m dwelling on it, sorry Yangshouwen!)

>The story isn`t actually what I expected. Admittedly, I didn`t know what to really expect, but don`t necessarily expect a good versus evil battle to the finish. And at first I felt the evil-granny type Jade Fox didn`t seem to be much of a villain, but damn she`s a bitch!!!

But all in all, this is a great film. It has it`s bad points, but then what film doesn`t? Perhaps not the blockbuster spectacle I expected, but I think I had very very high hopes. It DOES deserve the BAFTA`s and what ever Oscar`s it recieves, and the ending more than makes up for any faults in the film.

Ummmm... 9/10.

p.s:- Does anyone think that the Wudan warriors are like ancient Jedi Knights? Nope... maybe just me.
