Page 1 of Dammit I may be black listed!!!
General Forum
i recently applied for a mobile contract through o2 online and it was turned down cos i failed a credit check. this seems incredibly bizarre as ive got a perfect credit history. ive never been turned down for credit and have just taken out a large loan with cahoot.
now ive just moved house and changed all my bank details to my new address and can remember my landlord mentioning that the previous tennants were students and have some unpaid bills. so im assuming this is whats going against me. maybe the house is black listed, so does that now make me black listed too???
please can anyone offer any advise? thanks.
RE: Dammit I may be black listed!!!
the address is blacklisted, not you personally, but the only way around it is through a soliciter (i think) an old work collegue had the same problem and had to get advice and LOADS of forms to fill in, it was a pain in the arse for him tho it was sorted pretty fast, unfortunatly i don`t work with the guy any more so can`t ask him exactly what he did, but i hope this is enough to help.

Request your credit file and inform the credit reference agency that the person has nothing to do with you. You certainly don`t need a solicitor to do that :)

If you`ve just moved house you will not be on the electoral list. This counts a lot.
RE: Dammit I may be black listed!!!
You can get copies of your credit history from the Credit Reference Agencies (Equifax and Experian) for a fee of £2 (I think).
The house could have a CIFAS lsiting if their has had fraud associated with it at some point. You can get a note put on your own file to state that this has nothing to do with you.
Another reason for rejection could be if you have applied for a lot of other credit recently -as each search is recorded on your file. Your landlord probably did a check and the loan company and any other credit applications you may have made (maybe setting up utilites for new house -though I don`t think they do checks???). I never let anyone do a credit search unless I am certain that I intend to deal with them, to prevent searches being recorded for no reason while deciding which provider to use.

Its also very important you register your name and address at the local council`s electoral register. All credit searches refer to this as proof of residency!

You can get your credit file from Experian for £2 online ( I`ve just done this - credit file arrived yesterday ) - certainly makes interesting reading. Once this is resolved I will tell the tale.

Wish i`d have been turned down by O2, useless tossers, IMHO, and as for customer services don`t even get me started, 50p a minute my arse :(
RE: Dammit I may be black listed!!!
I applied for a egg credit card, and was refused, i wasnt suitable as a credit lender apparantly!! Altho they continully pestered me with flyers, letters etc, makes me mad! I thought damn, credit must be bad but applied for a card with Halifax and got a gold card and a huge credit limit! Bizzare to say the least. Wot makes it worse i know they gave my mate a card and she was in massive debts! just how do they decide cos it dosent seem legitimate sometimes!
If I was to get my credit history, what does it tell you and in how much detail?
Just curious as I`ve never been refused credit, don`t have any credit card bills or HP or even interest free credit things.
For £2 I`d be interested in what is held on me..
