Mercury Music Prize

Did anyone else think that giving the award to an almost unheard of `urban` artist smacked a little of the organisers trying desperately to show how culturally diverse they are? Surely Coldplay or even The Darkness (p*** takers though they may be) would have been more deserving?

Do you think I`m being cynical? I don`t :)

I`m sure Coldplay and Radiohead are more than happy with the millions they earn from record sales, they don`t really need another award. :)

Thoroughly agree with you richmach. The "interview" after he recieved the award was embarrassing. The bloke couldn`t string two sentences together. If that`s the future of music count me out.

Rocky..
P.S Thought The Darkness sounded excellent live. Rock on..

Guys Guys listen to Dizee`s album b4 u judge. As for his speech and interview, that award was probably the biggest thing that has happened to him as a 18 kid from a council estate who came from no where and beats coldplay and Radiohead.
Listen to the album b4 judging and besides how many of u `experts` bought the other nominated albums like soweto kinch...who?Lemon jelly...ehh?Floetry...what?

I`m just glad the darkness didn`t win. God, i thought their kind died out in the early ninties.

As yes, it does reek of the Mercury judges attempting to appear to be `with it`. I`ve heard his album, and it is truly cack.

neal73 - wash your mouth out with Jack Daniels! The Darkness rule!

They are rock gods on a par with Spinal Tap and, er, well; definitely Spinal Tap. They are p***takers (they must be, I mean just watch some of the videos) but they do produce some great songs too.

Dizzy Rascal - what a pile of pap.

If anyone listens to Radio 1 you`ll hear them kiss his ass all day long. He really is crap and i cant see why he one this award. Miss dynamite - she`s a pile of pap too. If wanna hear some truly awesome lyrics check out the Notorious BIG (the earlier stuff). Now thats rhyming.........

Ebony - if the darkness are indeed extracting urine, then they`re a bit late. Spinal Tap did it years ago and then Bad News did it better.

"..It says sausages..."

As for them producing good music, christ man wash your ears out. Hollering like Robert Smith from the Cure with his scrotum impaled on needles does not sound good.
