Car insurance

crispy (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 7th August 2003, 13:26

Can anyone recommend anyone for car insurance. My premium has been consistently
rising over the years despite my advancing years, rising no claims bonus and falling value
of my car!
Any suggestions welcome, otherwise it`s yet another trawl through the Yellow Pages.

Esure!

I was with Admiral, but they put my insurance up for no reason at all, so I stuck two fingers up at them and saved myself almost £200 by going with Esure.

Try More Than, they do a good deal whereby your NCD is protected for all time. Of course cost of insurance all comes down to a postcode lottery in the end, plus age and experience - the usual things!

Second the Esure post - was with More Than for 7 or 8 yrs in all its guises but saved nigh on £200 as well. Esure are cherry picking - those with a long no claims record.

I tried eSure, but got a horrendously over priced quote (about £500 fire & theft for a Polo!!!!), and surprisingly got the best deal from Churchill via a broker (£190). The broker was www.screentrade.co.uk and at the time knocked 10% off any policy bought online. Dunno if they still do the discount, but it`s worth a try.

Basically, I think the best thing is to try as many online quotes as you can find and pick the best.

How old are you MonkeyB if you don`t mind me asking?

Sparticus is right on the cherry picking front, esure wont insure most people under 30 and a number of cars they just won`t insure at all.

Might be worth giving CIS a whizz, they were the cheapest insurance company for me for 3 years up until renewal when they quoted me £245, tryed the nodding dog and got TPFT with protected NCB for £150. Bargain!

I am only 29, which could explain the price from eSure then since everyone else seems to be getting it cheap.

Ah well, just another year to wait before I am considered sensible and safe to drive. You would have thought 12 years without an accident would have been enough! >:(

Im only 29, with a theft claim 2 years ago and still got it on the cheap! eSure it must be said are a joke as is "Quote Me Happy" what a load of balls. They came up with a so call "fantastic quotation" for £292 I told them Churchill had quoted me £150 with free breakdown recovery, at which point they hung up and would discuss insurance with me and further?
