Page 1 of Help needed from Manchester football clubs fans and general football fans.

Hi.
I would like to know the history of Swinton Football Club in Manchester.

Basically whilst rooting through an old aunts papers I`ve found some very shares in Swinton FC.

I`d just like to know what happened to them incase they changed their name to the likes of Manchester United and the shares may be worth some money.

I`ve looked on the Internet but cant find much.

If anyone knows any historical facts, it would be much appreciated.

Could it be Swinton Lions Rugby Club? Rugby was often referred to as Football in the 1800`s. Just an idea.

I would have thought you would have to be from or live in Manchester to know anything about Swinton Football Club. Seeing as 99% of ManUtd supporters come from Southern England I can`t see you much luck!

I did type "Swinton FC" into Google. It appears to be a childs football team nowadays...

I live in Swinton and have done all my life. Live just around the corner from where the Swinton Lions used to play. Never heard of a Swinton Football team except for a Sunday league team. I`ll ask a few of my mates and see what they know, if thats any help?

Never thought i would be talking about my home town in here!

no as far as im aware theres no swinton footbal team only as already mentioned a former rugby club. sparkster why when someone has a serious question involving man united do people always have to pass some tiresome remark about the locality of its fans? yawn...

I know its late in replying, you prob have what you need now, but I know a lot about Swinton Rugby League club, once they were known as Swinton Football Club Ltd when they became a limited company in 1904, but they went into liquidation and reformed as Swinton Rugby League football club Ltd vitually straight away and were re-elected into the RFL, though they have always played rugby. Hope this helps.
