You don`t have to be an NTL customer to get their broadband service any more : see http://www.ntl.com/broadband

128k service £14.99
512k service £24.99
1 Mb service £49.99

I applied and they offered me 3 months of 512K for 10.00 PCM, then reverts back to 128K for remainder of 12 Mth contract. So far... no problems. Billings accurate, telly package is basic but reasonably cheap. Installation was quick, 6 days from initial request and. The installers didn`t have to rip much of my lawn up and (I can`t believe I`m saying this about NTL!) the customer services have been great.
So far so good but obviously (from reading through various forums) my experiences may not be entirely typical of thos experienced by others, I can only call it as i see it. Hope this helps.

As an NTL customer (phone only) I checked this offer but the condition is that you have to subscibe to their Digital TV package which I don`t want to as I`m damned if I want another box on top of or under the TV as I haven`t got anymore space being taken up with my surround system

Why can`t they just give you the product you want

That`s just not true.
I`ve got the Phone and a 128K cable modem. That`s all.
I did have analogue cable, but got them to take it out.

DL.

Knowing a lot of people who have broadband, Nildram are terrible, BT are even worse, NTL are okay (if you can live with the odd downtime now and again), Demon are good.

NTL`s Digital TV service is not that great at all, the technology is terrible and the quality of the picture and sound is bad.

DiveLeader

How did you manage that?

I have have just this minute rang NTL who said they are launching the stand alone version this week rather than relaying it through the Digi box

Kebabhead : read the second post again ! You don`t have to be a digital TV/telephone customer any more :-)

Robert : don`t agree about the TV picture : it`s a million miles better than the splotchy pixellation itv Digital used to laughingly call "crystal clear" :-)

Plus all the sport and movies I can handle (including Premiership Plus) for £38.50 per month : and they let me keep my BT phoneline too (I just have an ntl phone line that does nothing !).

Don`t have my broadband with ntl, I`m on Pipex (had broadband before I got ntl TV installed).

The broadband only prices are in my second posting :-)
